Wolverine’s PS5 Narrative Lead Quits Insomniac Games for CD Projekt RED

Mary Kenney, the narrative lead for Marvel’s Wolverine PS5, has announced her departure from Insomniac Games to join CD Projekt RED.

This shift comes hot on the heels of Wolverine losing its art director, Aaron Habibipour, to the same company just months ago.

Despite the shake-up, fans of the highly anticipated Wolverine game need not fret. Kenney, who has been an integral part of the story development, spent over five years at Insomniac Games. Her impressive resume includes work on Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Both Kenney and Habibipour’s transitions to CDPR align with the ramp-up of new projects, including the next Witcher installment and the Cyberpunk 2077 follow-up, codenamed Project Orion.

Wolverine PS5 has been in development for a considerable time, and with its primary scenario and art direction presumably established, Kenney’s departure is not expected to derail the project. “Today was my first day as a senior writer at CD Projekt RED,” Kenney shared on LinkedIn, later highlighted on Reddit. “I can’t wait to talk more about my project, I’m thrilled to be getting back into RPGs.”

While Kenney remains tight-lipped about her specific role, Habibipour has already revealed his involvement with Project Orion, adding to the excitement surrounding CDPR’s upcoming slate.

Insomniac Games, meanwhile, has maintained radio silence on Wolverine’s progress. Although speculations abound about a 2025 release, Sony has yet to confirm any official timeline. The development is undoubtedly moving forward, but fans will have to exercise patience for any concrete updates.

Kenney’s move marks a significant career shift, promising fresh narrative adventures at CDPR while leaving Wolverine in capable hands. As the gaming world eagerly awaits both Wolverine and CDPR’s future titles, this transition underscores the dynamic nature of the industry, where talent flows across borders to create the next generation of gaming experiences.
